EPCE-Partners-Bismarck-White

Associate of Applied Science in Instrumentation and Control

Overview

This program combines theory and hands-on training with state-of-the-art instruments, working processes, and computerized control systems. Students learn to install, test, calibrate and maintain instruments that measure, indicate and control variables such as pressure, flow, level, density, temperature, force, vibration and chemical composition.

Students apply math concepts, physics concepts and industry standards to realistic situations encountered on the job. The program prepares students for entry-level positions as instrumentation technicians in power plants, process facilities, water treatment facilities, or any other industrial location that utilizes automation.

The second year of the ICTL program has lab requirements that cannot be completed online. Students who work in the industry and have access to instrumentation equipment may be able to complete the required labs remotely. Bismarck State also offers a summer on-campus opportunity to complete required labs. Consult a BSC Advisor for more information on this requirement.

Students choosing not to complete the program lab requirements are eligible to earn a certificate in Instrumentation & Control Technology, but must complete the labs to earn the Associate degree.
