Settling into her new position at National Grid, Kim couldn't be happier with her decision to go back to school. Kim completed nearly three semesters of college after high school when she decided to get married and have a family, thus putting her educational ambitions on hold. It took Kim several tries at going to back to school before she found the online EPCE program. “I couldn't have done it without the online option. I tried.“ With two teenage boys at home, school was still a challenge. She had to find a schedule that worked for her family, so she studied a lot when her boys were at sports practice and at night after they went to bed. “Flexibility was one of my favorite parts about the program!“ Another highlight of the program was that the majority of her classmates were already in the field and shared their knowledge in the classroom. “They brought a lot to the table. They had anywhere from 10 to 20 years experience and were very smart people.“ Thanks to her hard work, Kim has been in her new position for six months, “The degree enabled me to get my new position; experience was just not enough.“ Kim says that once she gets comfortable in her new job, she'd like to continue on to earn her Bachelor's degree. |
