Program Overview
This online Certificate is for professionals seeking success through detailed knowledge of the structure and function of natural gas distribution. This program is ideal for gas technicians, job designers, workers new to natural gas, and those in the industry interested in transitioning to supervisory roles.
You will begin with an overview of the energy utility industry and move into gas combustion and gas distribution. In addition, you will study regulatory policy and procedure coupled with analysis of economic principles for regulated and non-regulated utility operations. The Certificate wraps up with work on principles of management to maximize your skill set and optimize value to your current or potential employer.
Components of this Certificate are intended to introduce natural gas distribution standards and a fundamental understanding of gas properties designed to build a foundation for Pipeline Operator Qualification assessments and to understand requirements of a written plan as mandated by DOT.
All the courses in this Certificate program are offered by Thomas Edison State College for college credit and directly apply toward the Bachelor of Science in Applied Science and Technology (BSAST) in Energy Utility Technology.

Program schedule
Thomas Edison State College is unique in that it is structured to begin a new semester at the beginning of each month. You can enroll in the Certificate in Gas Distribution program whenever you are ready. This service is offered to provide students the flexibility to begin courses at any time throughout the year without any delay in moving forward with their Certificate completion plans. Courses are asynchronous and are designed to be completed in 12 weeks with one proctored comprehensive (final) examination.
